Penicillin Allergy Assessment
We have an approximately once-monthly oral challenge test in the HKU Health System Clinical Centre next to our pharmacy at 3 Sassoon Road. You will be seeing nurses and a specialist in immunology and allergy, together with 4-8 clients, as one group for this oral challenge.
Before joining this oral challenge, the pharmacist will have a first screening with you to assess your eligibility, which takes around 30-45 minutes. We will then review your case with a specialist in immunology and allergy to confirm your eligibility for the oral challenge within 1-2 weeks.
Once you are classified as “low risk” participants, you are welcome to join our penicillin allergy oral-challenge assessment. However if you are classified as “moderate to high risk” participants, that means you are not eligible to initiate an oral challenge. We could provide a letter of reference for your situation and you may seek for further medical assessment to evaluate for the need of penicillin allergy assessment.
If you are interested in joining, please click here to make a reservation. After completion, we will allocate you a timeslot for the first screening with a pharmacist which takes around 5-7 working days. which takes around 3-5 working days.
